[Dec 06] Monroe County Jailer Doyle Fox recently headed back to class before he headed up the jail in 2007. The Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) teamed up to present a one-day training forum December 19th at the Cave City Convention Center. They also sponsored four other regional events across the state for new local leaders. “The purpose of the seminars is to provide valuable information to these new county officials so they are better prepared for those first days in office,” said KACo Executive Director/CEO Bob Arnold. “We want to ensure that these newly-elected officials have the information they need to govern their counties in a positive, successful manner.” At the training forum, KACo directors provided information about the Association’s various offerings, including health and unemployment insurance, workers compensation, financial programs and training. GOLD representatives made presentations on financial management and administration, legal services, grants and field services. Also, resource tables were set up to provide attendees with an opportunity to speak directly with program managers/directors from both sponsoring organizations.
