In July o f1968, the state of Connecticut would finally have their own DOC put in place. This would be the turning point for the state. They would finally have a department that would only focus on the state facilities, the parole board, and probation programs.
The first-ever person to be in charge here at the Connecticut Department of Corrections was Ellis C. MacDougall. Mr. MacDougall was made out for this position with his extensive career in all thing’s corrections related.
As of Late, the CDOC is an amazing department. All new hires for the department are under the obligation of going through 10 weeks’ worth of training. This training is to help these new hires not only be trained for the position, but also allow them to understand the reason behind what they are doing and to ensure that every new hire knows all state protocols and procedures to not only keep them safe, but also the safety of the other inmates that they will be working with.
