Inmate Search

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department manages and operates the Jones County Jail. Keeping and maintaining an up to date database of all current inmates is a big responsibility. That is what the Jones County Sheriff's Department does.

The Jones County Jail has its jail roster with their current arrests available to the general public by the Jones County Sheriff's Department. The database can be found on the Jones County Sheriff’s Department official website.

You can do an inmate search on the roster by the inmate's name. When doing a successful inmate search, you will see the inmates information below:

Sending a Mail

Jones County Jail inmates are allowed to get written letters from their family and friends in the mail. For safety reasons, all letters get inspected by the Jones County Jail employees. The letters will get passed out to the correct inmates after the employees check all the mail. 

When you send items to the jail along with your letters, there are a number of things you are not allowed to send. Here is a list of items you are not allowed to send below: 

• Gang Related Items
• Music Cards
• Metal
• Plastic
• Confetti
• Glitter
• Ribbons
• String
• Polaroids
• Lipstick/Lip Gloss/Chapstick
• Perfume
• Writing Paper
• Envelopes
• Pens
• Pencils
• Stamps
• No photographs larger than 5x7”

Jones County Jail inmates can get books, newspaper, and magazines. The books, Newspaper, and magazines will need to be delivered directly from the bookstore or publisher to the jail. All books being sent to the Jones County Jail must be new and paperback. All used and hardcover books are not allowed, Books will be sent back to sender If a hardcover book is sent, it will be sent back to the sender if they are used or hardcovered

Sending Money

Jones County Jail inmates will need funds to purchase items from the commissary. If you would like to fund an inmate’s account, you can send a cashier’s check or a money order to directly to the Jones County Jail. You will need to make the money payable to the inmate. 

You can drop the money orders or cashier’s checks off at the jail or you can mail them to the jail at the address below:

If you want to mail the money order or checks, you will need to make sure you have a return address on the envelope. And it will take several days for the money orders to be put into the inmate’s bank account. 

Phone Calls

Jones County Jail inmates are not allowed to get phone calls from their family or friends. During phone time inmates are allowed to call their family and friends. Inmates are limited to15-minute calls. The call will be terminated when the 15 minutes is up.   

Calling features such as three-way calling and call forwarding are forbidden for the inmates to use. The call will be immediately disconnected if an inmate is caught using any of these features. Disciplinary action will be taken up against the inmate.

Jones County Jail inmates are only allowed to make collect calls. Only those who have a landline phone will be able to get collect calls. If you only have a cell phone you will not be able to take any collect calls. The individual receiving the collect call is the one responsible for any and all charges from this phone call. Jones County Jail is not responsible for any charges from the collect calls.

Visiting Rules

Jones County Jail inmates are allowed to have visitors. All visitors under the age of 18 will are allowed to visit, however, they will need to be with by their legal guardian. Before you are allowed to visit you will need to show your driver’s license, state identification card, or their United States Passport. 

Make sure you keep all your personal belongings in your car. Personal belongings are not allowed in the visitation area.

Jones County Jail inmates are allowed one 15-minute visit each week. These visits are video visits. The software that is used is from Homewav. Times of visitations vary from on-site and off-site. 

Jones County Jail inmates are allowed one 15-minute visit for each calendar week. All visitation is a privilege and not a right.
