The main goal in the Georgia Department of Corrections is to make sure that all people they are in custody are protected in an environment that promotes growth among them.
However, this goal is not just for those that are imprisoned, this goal is also for those in the programs that consist of parole and probation as well. It is a goal as a whole department to ensure that all custody offenders are growing within themselves and growing as a helpful member of society as well.
The Georgia Department of Corrections also employs many prison guards who will make sure that all rules, regulations, and laws within the facility are followed closely, but also promote growth from within, so these offenders will turn over a new leaf when they get out of the facility.
All employees are heavily trained upon hire to ensure that they are going to be a part of meeting the goal at hand. All employees will go through this training also to ensure that they can handle anything that comes at them not only to protect the inmates, but also learn how to protect themselves.
Only employees with these following traits will be hired to work for the Georgia Department of Corrections:
- Assurance
- Cooperation
- Fortitude
