Sending a Mail

The Effingham County Jail inmates are allowed to get written letters from their family and friends. For safety reasons, all letters will be examined by jail employees when they arrive. The letters will get passed out once the jail staff checks them.

Sending Money

The Effingham County Jail inmates will need money to buy things from the commissary. A cashier’s check or money order can be sent straight to the Effingham County Jail if you would like to put money into an inmate's account. You will need to make the money payable to the inmate.

Make sure you write the return address on the envelope if you are going to send in money orders or Cashier's checks. Allow several days for the money orders to be deposited into the inmate's account. 

Phone Calls

The Effingham County Jail inmates are not allowed to get phone calls from their family or friends. During phone time, inmates are allowed to make phone calls to their family and friends. The inmates are limited to 15-minute calls. The call will be terminated when the 15 minutes is over.

Calling features such as three-way calling and call forwarding are forbidden for the inmates to use. The call will be disconnected if an inmate is caught using any of these features. Disciplinary action will be taken up against the inmate.   

The Effingham County Jail inmates are only allowed to make collect calls. Inmates are only be allowed to call those who have a landline. Inmates are not able to call those who have a cell phone. The individual receiving the collect call is the one responsible for any and all fees that are associated with the collect call.   The Effingham County Jail is not accountable for any charges associated with the collect calls.

Visiting Rules

The Effingham County Jail inmates are allowed to have visitations. All visitors under the age of 18 will are allowed to visit, however, they will need to be with their legal guardian. Before you are allowed in the visitation area you will need to show either your driver’s license, state identification card, or your United States Passport. 

You will need to put all of your personal belonging in your vehicle. Personal belongings of any kind will be allowed in the visitation area.
