This all started in 1970, this is when the Illinois Department of Corrections was officially founded. During this great time for the state, it was mainly consisted of state facilities, parole offices, and juvenile facilities and offices.
It should be noted that it took the Illinois Department of Corrections 4 years until they officially built their first institution. This institution was made for all sorts of corrections, including parole and imprisonment.
In July 2006, the Illinois Department of Corrections, the subsection known as the Adolescent Equity finally had an institution for them along with a better process and structure for adolescents.
