There has always been a Louisville Metro Department of Corrections since 1915. This is when the first and original Louisville Metro Department of Corrections opened its doors. This Louisville Metro Department of Corrections was situated on the top floor of the old Louisville courthouse.

However, the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections that is in operation now was replacing the original jail. The Louisville Metro Department of Corrections officially opened its doors back in June of 1979.

Visiting Rules
