There has always been a Madisonville Jail since 1915. This is when the first and original Madisonville Jail opened its doors. This Madisonville Jail was situated on the top floor of the old Madisonville courthouse.

However, the Madisonville Jail that is in operation now was replacing the original jail. The Madisonville Jail officially opened its doors back in June of 1979.
