Sending a Mail
Inmates in the Penobscot County Jail can receive written letters from their family and friends. These letters will be checked by jail staff upon arrival for safety issues. After the staff examines all the mail, they will pass them out to the correct inmates.

The Penobscot County Jail inmates will need funds to buy things from the commissary. If you would like to deposit funds into an inmate’s account, you can send a postal money order straight to the Penobscot County Jail. Make sure you make the money order payable to the inmate.

You will need to make sure you have a return address on the envelope if you decide to mail the postal money order. It will take several days for the money orders to be deposited into the inmate’s bank account.
You can also use the kiosk in the Penobscot County Jail lobby which is available for deposits 7 days a week. The kiosk takes credit cards, debit cards and cash. However, there is a processing fee of $3.
Phone Calls
The Penobscot County Jail inmates are allowed to make phone calls to their family and friends. Incoming calls from friends and family are not allowed for the inmates at the Penobscot County Jail.
Inmates at the Penobscot County Jail are not allowed to use any calling features which include three-way calling and call forwarding. The call will be immediately disconnected if an inmate is caught using these features. Disciplinary action will be taken up against the inmate as well.
At the Penobscot County Jail, there are a couple of ways inmates can call you. The Penobscot County Jail inmates are allowed to make collect calls. Inmates are only able to call those who possess a landline. Those who have cell phones will not be able to get these collect calls. The individual receiving the collect call is the one responsible for any and all charges from the phone call. The Penobscot County Jail is not responsible for any charges from the collect calls.
Most of the inmates at the Penobscot County Jail opt-in with using the Global Tel*link (GTL). The Global Tel*link contracts with the Penobscot County Jail to provide phone services. Visiting Rules
The Penobscot County Jail inmates are allowed to have visitors. All visitors under the age of 18 will are allowed to visit, however, they must be with their legal guardian. Before being allowed in the visitation area all visitors at the Penobscot County Jail will need to show either their driver’s license, state identification card, or their United States Passport.
Keep in mind, all your personal belongings will need to stay in your car. In the visitation area, no personal belongings will be allowed.
