Sending a Mail

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution inmates are allowed to get written letters from their family and friends in the mail. For safety reasons, all letters will be examined by the jail employees once they arrive. The staff will pass out the letters to the correct inmates once the letters are checked.

There are a number of items you are not allowed to send, when sending things along with your letters. Here is the list below:

• String
• Ribbons
• Metal
• Gang Related Items
• Polaroids
• Lipstick/Lip Gloss/Chapstick
• Music Cards
• Writing Paper
• Envelopes
• Pens
• Pencils

• No photographs larger than 5"x7”

Writing your return address is a good idea when sending an inmate mail, just in case you accidentally send something that is not allowed. 

Monmouth County Correctional Institution inmates can get books, magazines, and newspapers sent to them in the mail. However, the books, magazines, and newspapers are required to be sent directly from the bookstore or publisher to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. All books being sent to inmates must be new and paperback. All used and hardcover books are not allowed. If a used or hardcover book is sent, it will be sent directly back to the sender.

Sending Money

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution inmates will need money to make purchases from the commissary. The Monmouth County Correctional Institution offers several different ways for friends and family to deposit funds into an inmate’s account.

By logging on to www.accesscorrections.com friends and family will be able to deposit funds. However, there is a minimum fee of $3.95 for each transaction.

You can deposit funds by calling 732-431-7860 as well. Although there is a minimum fee of $4.95 for each transaction.

You can also deposit funds using the kiosk that is located in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution lobby. Credit cards, debit cards, and cash payments are accepted at the kiosks.

Phone Calls

Monmouth County Correctional Institution inmates are not allowed to receive phone calls from their family or friends. Although, during phone time the inmates are allowed to call their family and friends. The inmates are limited to 15-minute calls. The call will be terminated when the 15 minutes is over.

Calling features such as three-way calling and call forwarding are prohibited for the inmates to use at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. The call will be disconnected right away if an inmate is caught using any of these features.

Monmouth County Correctional Institution inmates are allowed to make collect calls. Inmates will only be able to call those who have a landline. Those who only have cell phones will not be able to receive any collect calls. The individual responsible for any and all charges from the collect call is the one who is receiving the collect call. The Monmouth County Correctional Institution isn't responsible for any and all charges from the collect calls.

Visiting Rules

At the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, inmates are allowed to have visitors. All visitors under the age of 18 will be allowed to visit, however, they will need to stay with their legal guardian. Before you are allowed to visit, you will be required to present either their driver’s license, state identification card, or their United States Passport.

Make sure to remember to keep all your personal belongings in your car. Personal belongings are not allowed in the visitation area.

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution allows family and friends contact and non-contact visits. All visits have to be scheduled. You can schedule your visit here. For each calendar week inmates are allowed 3 50-minute visits.
