Did you know that prior to the year 1970 there was no Department of Corrections? It was run under a different division. But of course, that division was not doing as good of a job as they could have.
It would not be until this time when Daniel J. Evans would transfer the divisions from the current division to the Washington Department of Corrections or better known as the Social and Welfare Administrations.
It would not be finalized until July of 1981 when they would finally be done transferring everything over and the Washington Department of Corrections could finally sink their teeth into what they took over and start fixing what they could immediately.
Throughout the next few decades, the department would continue to work on and better the corrections system. Their main goal is to make sure that anything that is not running properly gets redone and completed the right way the first time.
