Sending mail to Wisconsin inmates but there is a protocol. All mail is opened, inspected, and examined to ensure safety. In addition, legal mail must be opened with the inmate present and it will not be read. There are strict measurements that are allowed regarding magazine clippings and newspaper clippings, and mail with over 15 pages of this material is not allowed.

Legal and medical documents over 15 pages are allowed, but it requires warden approval. Inmates can also receive cards, but they cannot contain electronics or be layered in some way to hide contraband. Inmates at Kenosha Correctional Center can also receive up to 20 self-addressed and stamped envelopes, and this is an exemption from the standard 15 page limit.

Photos of a certain size can be sent but cannot contain nudity. Polaroid and/or instant photos of any kind are not allowed.

Phone Calls

In Kenosha Correctional Center, you cannot initiate a call to an inmate at any time. An inmate can make outgoing calls but only to approved numbers. A facilities chaplain can help when it comes to a phone call regarding a family emergency, such as a death.

Inmates can submit a list of ten telephone numbers to be approved, and the list can be updated every six months. Cell phone numbers are not allowed.

All calls are recorded and monitored.

Visiting Rules

A Wisconsin Visitation Application must be filled out before visiting an inmate, and a request must be directly made to the inmate. If a visitor is 12 or over, the application must be filled. You should note that all visitors, belongings, and cars may be searched. No tobacco or tobacco-related products are allowed at Kenosha Correctional Center. You are allowed to have a single car key, ID, and up to $50 dollars upon your visit. The $50 must be in small bills.

Your application may be denied, and you can only be on one visitor’s list at a time. You also may have to bring various forms of identification, as well.
